Pinckney, MI – North Star Reach, the ninth U.S. residential camp in the SeriousFun Children’s Network founded by actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, proudly announces the election of Fran Victor to its Board of Directors. Victor was unanimously elected by the Board at its June meeting.
“On behalf of myself and the North Star Reach board members, we are excited to have Fran Victor join our board. I worked with Fran as part of the team that helped build camp,” shared Sheri Mark, Board Chair. “I’m so thrilled to work with her again to keep the campfires burning for kids with serious health challenges for many years to come.”
Victor is the President and Executive Productor of Evolution Media, a film and video production company which produces award-winning videos with an emphasis on health and medical production, education, documentary, non-profit, development, and commercial programming. She has several awards for her work in production, including three EMMY awards, five CINE Golden Eagle, the NATAS Silver Circle (Lifetime Achievement Award), 42 National Telly awards, and many more. Victor earned her Bachelor of Arts in film and video studies from the University of Michigan.
“I am thrilled to rejoin North Star Reach in its remarkable efforts to bring a camp experience to children and young adults with serious health challenges. These experiences provide more than fun and the opportunity to meet new friends, enjoy different activities and share in a camp experience away from home,” shared Victor. “A week at NSR can change lives, expanding what many kids and their families thought was ever possible. It’s a place of joy.”
In addition to her experience in production, Victor has experience in development, having served as the Chief Development Officer for both JVS Human Services, now known as Gesher Human Services, and Jewish Senior Life of Metropolitan Detroit. She was also the Director of Development of North Star Reach during our $26.2 million capital campaign to build the camp. She has also previously served on the boards of Temple Israel in West Bloomfield and Forgotten Harvest.
“I look forward to sharing the story of North Star Reach and the impact it has on the lives of children and their families, and I hope others join me in supporting this place of joy, hope and transformation,“ remarked Victor.
North Star Reach is actively recruiting for its Board of Directors and several of its committees. If you are interested in getting involved in our mission, please contact J.J. Lewis, Chief Executive Officer, at (734) 680-8744 or jj@northstarreach.org.
“We are thrilled to have Fran joining our Board of Directors and bringing her vast experiences to the Board table. From being part of the team which led our first capital campaign to working in video production for many community partners, I know she’ll help us create life-changing experiences for children across the region,” shared Lewis. “As we work to grow our team, I encourage members of the community to reach out and explore how they can get involved like Fran and so many others!”
